Yin Yoga and The Meridians Series, The Workshop

150 150 LuzLife

Last September I had the opportunity to meet again my Yoga Teachers Sebastian Pucelle and Murielle Burellier, to further learn about Yin Yoga and The Meridians Series.

Sebastian Pucelle, Murielle Burellier and Luz A. Lovern September 2014, Thailand

Sebastian Pucelle, Murielle Burellier and Luz A. Lovern September 2014, Thailand

“Learning how to heal yourself with the practice of Yin – Yoga, tapping into the life-force of the body called Prana )in India or Qi (in China) using the nervy pathways named, Nadis or Meridians.Going deeper into the practice of Yin-Yoga will promote the removal of blockages and stagnation of energy, enhancing the flow of Qi to stimulate the function of the Meridians and Main Organs restoring and balancing our physical, energetic and emotional health through the practice of the Yin Yoga Meridians Series”.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga practice has transformative effects on body and mind. The gentle but consistent stimulation of the connective tissues encourages long-term health and flexibility of the joints, recharges the energetic system of the body and naturally draws the mind inward into a relaxed, meditative state. It also prepares the body and mind for longer meditation practices.

Our Yin Yoga Teacher Training is overlapping Yogic,Taoist and Buddhist concepts to contemplate and interpret the essential message of those different traditions. From the gross to the subtle we believe in cultivating an awareness of all the different aspects of the individual, combining body/mind perception as a practice to positively influence, modify, and transform one’s health and consciousness. from www.with-yinyoga.com

Using our body to reach the mind that brings tremendous benefits in our life. Improving our well being, calming our mind and leting us more focused and stillness.

Using our body t o reach the mind. Wood Element.

Using our body t o reach the mind. Wood Element.

After this workshop with Sebastian and Murielle, I was feeling emotionally and physically different, more clear and calmed, more peace in my heart helping me to embrace the present moment. Working with the Life Force bringing our internal organs to the balance and harmony that we need.

Clean up the fears, anger and negative emotions to reach the inner peace and moving fearless in this Planet.

Today I am moving with freedom, taking care of my Liver and all my internal organs to keep the internal harmony taking care of my emotions and detoxing my path.

Ancient Taoists viewed the life as energy and referred to powerful life forces as spirits. The planets Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury and Saturn, and their related directions, East, South, West, North and Center, were considered potent life forces or spirits, because internal organs correspond to planets. Their related directions were also referred to as spirits. Planetary spirit is internal organ spirit, and internal organ spirit is human spirit.
Taoist cultivate arts, including nei dan (internal alchemy), developing conscious awareness of the undivided connection between these five spirits or aspects of life, allowing a profound experience of one’s true nature.

The Five Elements and the relationship with our Internal Organs. Learning how we can keep the harmony and balance in daily life.

The Five Elements and the relationship with our Internal Organs. Learning how we can keep the harmony and balance in daily life.

I am sharing with all of you some notes from this experience and hope you can find the good energies around.

Also a very good recommendation from my teachers and friends Sebastian and Murielle the book is from Ted J. Kaptchuk “Chinese Medicine The web that has no weaver”

Be at the House of Hun, the eternal soul.

Introducing a Group of Pilates Reformer Classes

150 150 LuzLife

From 20th of October 2014 I am Introducing a Group of Pilates Reformer Classes.

The Pilates Reformer is the best known piece of Pilates equipment. It is a bed like frame with a moveable carriage on which a person sits or reclines for resistance exercise or stretching.  It is an excellent method of exercising without over stressing the joints while strengthening, shaping and leaning muscles throughout the entire body.  The Pilates Reformer is excellent for physical rehabilitation and get back into shape before or after childbirth as well as normal exercise to improve quality of life.

10268594_10152099579895614_4984910140396351608_n

Joseph Pilates developed his work from a strong personal experience in fitness. Unhealthy as a child, Joseph Pilates studied many kinds of self-improvement systems. He drew from Eastern practices and Zen Buddhism, and was inspired by the ancient Greek ideal of man perfected in development of body, mind and spirit. On his way to developing the Pilates Method, Joseph Pilates studied anatomy and developed himself as a body builder, a wrestler, gymnast, boxer, skier and diver.
After WWI, Joseph Pilates briefly returned to Germany where his reputation as a physical trainer/healer preceded him. In Germany, he worked briefly for the Hamburg Military Police in self-defense and physical training. In 1925, he was asked to train the German army. Instead, he packed his bags and took a boat to New York City. On the boat to America, Joseph met Clara, a nurse, who would become his wife. He went on to establish his studio in New York and Clara worked with him as he evolved the Pilates method of exercise, invented the Pilates exercise equipment, and of course, trained students.

For best effect, attend a group reformer class.  The student should have at least ten (10) private lessons from a Pilates professional for a personalized Pilates program that is focused on the individual requirements of each student.

LuzLife Pilates can provide such personalized programs.

Pilates Reformer classes will be conducted for up to 3 persons per class.

This class is geared toward those who already attend private lessons and want to work out at a steady pace with limited personal attention.

For hygiene requirements, please bring a small towel and clean socks – no gym shoes will be used.

Prior to attending class, please bathe and wear deodorant, but avoid excessive perfume.

Cell-phones need to be switched off at all times!

Be part of the New Journey at LuzLife Total Pilates! Shaping your body and mind from within!

9 Steps in Handling a Rude Client

9 Steps in Handling a Rude Client

Most clients are polite and thoughtful and realize that even though they are paying you for the service you provide, it’s a 2 way street and they need your service, otherwise, they would not be using you. However, there are some clients who feel because they are paying you, they can be disrespectful or rude. At other times, a client is entitled to get angry if things go wrong at your end. You’re in business to serve your clients and it is up to you to deal with them angry or not. So how do you effectively deal with a rude or angry client?

1. Stay Calm. Take a deep breath and if the client says something disrespectful, don’t take it personally. If they are rude, it is not about you, it is because the situation has annoyed them. If you, in turn, raise your temper, it will just make the client more agitated and will escalate the situation. If you are respectful and stay cool, it will most likely calm the client down to some extent.

2. Listen Carefully and try to put yourself in her shoes. Maybe the client is having personal problems and needs to take it out to someone. Maybe her boss screams at her so she is screaming at you. The best thing to do is to acknowledge her feelings and tell her you completely understand why she is upset. Connecting and feeling your clients’ annoyance will instantly help them feel better and show them you are there to help.

3. Repeat the Problem. By repeating the problem to your clients you show them that you have been listening and that you understand the problem. Also, ask a number of questions to make sure you have no doubt about what they are telling you. Doing this in a calm manner will go a long way to helping them understand that you know what the issues are and also help clarify any misunderstanding that may exist. Sometimes clients do not initially express the full extent of the problem – only the part that makes them most angry.

4. Get to the Root of the Matter. Write down notes while the client is screaming at you so you can direct the conversation towards providing solutions. Ignore insults and tackle the issue at hand.

5. Apologize. Whether the clients’ concern is legitimate or not, you have to sincerely apologize. Show them that you are really sorry about the problem they are having. Make it a simple and straightforward statement. If you are apologizing by e-mail, make sure you don’t try to justify yourself.

6. Offer a Solution. If you know the problem and have a solution, offer it to the client. If you need to check things out before you can solve the problem, tell them that you will get back to them in an hour or two at the most so at least it gives you time to see how the problem can be fixed. If you leave your clients hanging or dissatisfied by not doing much about the problem, you can be sure they are not going to be your clients for very much longer.

7. Give Incentive/Compensation. In the even there is no solution, offer a compromise or compensation to make sure your clients do not remain angry. To further appease your clients, you can also offer a token that they will appreciate receiving. This shows yours and your company’s goodwill and calms the situation.

8. Never Resort to a War of Words. Throwing insults at each other will never result in a solution and only escalate the problems further.

9. Follow Up. Finally follow up with the client. Once the problem has been fixed, follow up to make sure that your client is happy with the solution or the compensation. In the event that you think the client is a habitual complainer and may complain again if you call him/her, you can even send him/her a handwritten note of apology. Sometimes this extra little act of following up makes a client feel valued and heard.

After the situation has been resolved, it’s helpful for you to take a little “time out” from the stressful experience. Rather than let that stress linger inside you, take a short walk, treat yourself to a snack or find someone who makes you laugh. Then you’ll be ready once again to engage with your clients.

Yoga Karuna at LuzLife

Hello Universe!

Yoga for Compassion

I Like to introduce our Yoga Session every Thursday at 4 pm.  Fee: Yoga by donation

Please book your mat, spaces are limited

at LuzLife Studio in Qatar

Barbara Moreno our Yogini and Yoga Teacher is giving as a beautiful and organic way to approach Yoga practice to help and release the emotional and physical tension that we can create.  Learning to Breathing and relax our mind.

Meaning of Karuna (compassion): Karuna is related to the word karma. It is the intention and capacity to relieve and transform suffering, to lighten sorrow. While the word karuna is generally “translated as “compassion,” which literally means to suffer with,” Thich Nhat Hanh, the Buddhist monk and teacher, has pointed out that we don’t need to suffer ourselves in order to alleviate the suffering of another person. Doctors, for instance, do not have to suffer illness in order to relieve their patients’ pain. The Buddha described karuna as the “quivering of the heart” we experience when we are open and able to truly see suffering and are moved to do something about it.

The physical and emotional benefits of Yin Yoga and Pilates by Luz A. Lovern

150 150 LuzLife

Many injuries are caused by muscular imbalances within our bodies. Also we can injure our bodies when we are tense or move without to be present and fully aware of the movements.
There are many causes for these imbalances; our posture, our breath, our emotions, our state of mind, the way we walk, bend over, sit, lie down, or work out  this includes the way we sleep, or the way we talk…  basically the ways in which we move.  Most of us move incorrectly in some way or another, which puts too much pressure on some muscles and weakens others, causing an imbalance, causing unnecessary stress and using the wrong muscles.
In Yin Yoga we put emphasis on releasing our thoracic lumbar fascia, and all our Fascia network, targeting joint and relaxing muscles, breathing,  calming our mind and letting our body talk and communicate from within
I have had the magnificent experience to have had my own physical and emotional rehabilitation after 12 months from having had ACS with Diseconomy.
The way that we move may put too much pressure on the spine, hips, while weakening the pelvic muscles in the front of the body.  Either scenario creates an imbalance, which means the body is much more susceptible to serious strains, pulls, tears or worse.
Yin Yoga and Pilates exercises promote an even musculature throughout the body by strengthening the Hips area, Sacrum, Core, Spine, upper limbs and lower limbs.  As a Pilates and Yoga Teacher always I like to think that our body is a Work of Art.  No matter what is going on with us at the present moment, we are all unique and we all have the capacity to embrace the present, we are ONE!
The Power House is considered the “center” of the body and consists of the deep abdominal muscles along with the muscles closest to the spine.  And also as everybody know me I just redefine the Power House as a Unit and our entire body, mind and spirit.  You can read about that in my past posts. https://luzlife.com/2014/05/26/defining-the-new-power-house/
Working also with Yin Yoga principles helping to release the tension created by my own traumatic experience.  Realizing fiscally and emotional my entire humanity.  That why I give to Yin Yoga all the credibility because prepare your body for the Pilates as a Yang exercise.  As we know Yin and Yang are part of our inner Universe.  As the Universe is outside, it is also within.
At LuzLife Private Studio we work with all the Pilates equipment necessary to give the necessary energies to spinal and pelvic alignment, which is critical in getting us to move the way we are supposed to move to avoid injury.
Based on the principles of the Pilates repertoire; breathing, core strength, even musculature, we work on Fascia release and deeper stretching of the joints.
Another reason is that it provides a greater degree of flexibility than most conventional forms of physical therapy. This is true because Pilates and Yin Yoga exercises can be modified for each person to be extremely effective. You can go from basic movements to very advanced, depending on how a client or student needs to progress or how badly they are injured.  LuzLife Studio will take care of you, at the same way is taking care of me day by day.
Namaste.
